Whether presented as active peace makers or passive victims, women’s roles in times of conflict are frequently analyzed in terms of traditional views on femininity. During three days of public lectures, discussions, and screenings ACTI-VISTAS will offer alternative takes on the role of women in general, and feminist strategies in particular, in the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. How do women activists mobilize their gender position within this struggle? What “other” kinds of women have been playing a role throughout this decades-long conflict? and what new possibilities does contemporary new media offer to the debate?
