Vedika Nema's profile

The ombre project ( Yarn Craft)

My eternal fascination for the beauty of the sky has inspired me in my work of yarn craft. Sitting on my balcony with a cup of coffee and admiring the distinctive pattern of the clouds in the evening is the favourite part of my day. Its visual gradation of tints and shade blends and creates a mood of harmony with the surrounding. I have chosen to knit and crochet as the medium of expression for this particular subject.
(All the cotton threads are hand dyed to give an ombre effect to fall within technique.)

Garter stitch
It is the very first stitch anyone could ever learn. When knit flat it consists solely of the knit stitch. Garter stitch lies flat and is totally reversible, meaning that both sides look the same. The resulting fabric is very stretchy both length-wise and width-wise.
stockinette stitch
One of the most common and basic stitch patterns in knitting, the stockinette stitch is made up of the two main stitches, knit and purl, in their simplest combination.
Seed stitch
It’s called the Seed Stitch because the raised bumps from your purl stitches resemble seeds. It is made up of single knits and purls that alternate both horizontally and vertically.
1×1 Rib Stitch
The 1×1 Rib Stitch looks a lot like the Stockinette Stitch but it’s really super stretchy and identical on both sides. As a result, it’s perfect to knit for garments.
This knitted sample has been created with the stockinette stitch.
