This poster went up around the campus of the University of Chicago to promote a star lecture by Professor Harold Platt, hosted by the Chicago Studies department. We had the idea to style the poster around old newspaper broadsheets, like those published in the wake of the Great Chicago Fire, to underscore the shocking importance of the subject of the lecture (the dangers of climate change as it affects the city of Chicago). The old-timey ink color grading, halftones, and unusual punctuation attracts the attention of passers-by, while the crowded nature of broadsheets lends itself to including a lot of different information on one poster.
