CREATURE COMPANIONS
A nightstand collection with a portable night light for kids.
This project is for a course called "Living in Color", where we explored the role of color in household/health and well-being products. For this assignment, the challenge was to design a functional object that utilizes both light and color in a unique way; I decided to design a friendly "creature" nightstand for kids with a toy-like, minimal aesthetic.
How it works: Creature Companion is a 2-in-1 mini nightstand and portable night light. The creature's face glows as a stationary night light, and when the user wants to get out of bed at night, whether to grab a glass of water or to use the restroom, they can pull the portable light disc out of the slot, and the disc will automatically glows while the creature's face will be turned off. The nightstand will be plugged in for power, and the disc slot also works as a charging port for the portable light.
