FAU Donor Wall (Florida Sun)

A donor wall design for FAU downtown Fort Lauderdale campus. The composition of dichroic glass panels is intentionally reflective of a rising sun. This imagery serves a dual purpose of representing the South Florida sun, and the figurative potential of rising bright minds, nurtured by the university.
The dichroic glass paneling is intentionally used for its unique qualities. The glass has a very colorful, visual quality to it that demands the attention of the eye. Depending on the time of day or the angle the light casted on the dichroic glass, varying colors will reflect and cast translucent shadows on the wall and ground. This quality not only reinforces its direct relation to the South Florida sun by being dependent on it, but also creates a colorful attraction to draw people to the campus. Donor names are added as vinyl lettering to the back of sections of glass. The level of donation is conveyed using a hierarchy of type size and placement.
