This could sound dumb for kiwis but it’s something friends and I who don’t have English as our 1st language and/or didn’t grown up in NZ have in common: the famous “sweet as” expression sounded SO confusing for us at the beginning of our learning journey. In English classes we were never tough about this expression (not that any of us would remember) and when we heard it for the 1st time we were like “we must have heard it wrong… no one would talk about their asses like that… right?” I asked some kiwi friends and they never experienced this confusion so it must be a foreigner thing.
