White Cat with Red Mouth Illustrations
It all started with a skribbl.io sketch in a game with friends
Skribbl.io is a free multiplayer drawing and guessing game. Above is an illustration of a cat eating.
This cat came to be while in a game of Skribbl.io with my friends. As one of the artists in the group I had the advantage much of the time to sketch images of what the word to be guessed was. I personally really enjoyed the energy and simplicity that this cat had given off. I was drawn to it and decided to develop the cat into a character to feature in my store.
The illustrations above are cleaned up characters as well different moods I had the character portray. Eventually I used all of the illustrations for different purposes as shown below.
I redesigned my business card from the first two pictures to the last two pictures, front and back respectively. I have been going through a transition in deciding who I wanted to be and who I want to present myself as. When I had changed over my user handle on Instagram from @poisonedrats to @designsbykristi.hi [Dec '19] I had chosen to delete much of my pictures of cats, doodles, and tried to keep a professional appearance on there. I moved all of those illustrations to @poisoned_rats [I couldn't keep the other name] as a personal art page, which eventually led to a branching off of my current brand that featured more edgy and doodle based goods.
My goal with my previous business card design was to offer graphic design services to people in Hawaii and I marketed myself that way. This advice to keep my branding simple, digestible, and professional was going well-- I had clients and I was doing graphic design.
Eventually, I realized that--this isn't who I wanted to be or portray myself to be. For the time being, these business cards are included in all my customer's purchases and the business cards I hand out. Realizing that my personality is all encompassing, I shouldn't refrain from keeping my art personality out of my business either. I really enjoy drawing cute doodles like these and my customers like them too! I am currently rebranding once again and is a work in progress.

I had created a secondary card for my customers who liked just this kind of illustrations to include in their orders. Unfortunately, I will not be using these as I'm going through a rebrand to encompass all illustrations and designs from both of my Instagram accounts into one.
Shown above are all the products I have created with the finished illustrations of the White Cat with Red Mouth. With the same illustration as my @poisoned_rats business card, I made paper coasters with them. Currently the "Suck My Balls" illustration has been a bestseller of mine. It is available as a sticker, magnet, and updated larger keychain.
