Plantasia Album And Gif

This is a simple movement that I had created for my project, adding some simple blinking movements and creating a loop that documents something like a Spotify gif. I had chosen the girl with the pearl earring, and duplicated the layer, taking out her eye to make a blinking motion, and did the same with the other eye. I had then created the look of her curtsying, adding to the royalty aspect of the painting. This was to prepare us for when we create our album cover based on 'plants' an album with outdated artwork. We have to illustrate an album and then add slight movement to it, using photoshop and other materials.
These was little experiments of many using photoshop and a bit of procreate to add the animation that the woman is waving at you. This particular animation was created using 3 layers on procreate, adding the frames to create the waving effect. I have tried different media to see which one gave me the best outcome, and I have yet to decide which one was best, the top image that was created by frame animation on photoshop in our classes or this one that was created using my digital drawing and 3 frames on procreate.
This image here was part of the album cover, creating the album sleeve and adding the details of the plants and the typography in after the woman was drawn. I have yet to add the animating, but my plan is to use photoshop and procreate to animate the leaves/vines wrapping around the woman, and creating buds at the end. I would also have her blinking which will add to the effect of her being 'released' by the plants. This album cover is a rough drawing, to create the whole outcome, I would like to experiment with some different illustrations first to see which drawing would suit the animation best. I had created the eyes and the vines using the same layer so I could animate them both together and see which of the 2 drawings I will use for the final project brief.

This little animation is me trying to experiment with the idea of the lady blinking on my album cover. I had used procreate to animate little movements into her drawing, using the same outline and adding the definition of the movement. I had tried to use the same colours as the first original drawing but added a bit too much peach/skin tone, using a different colour each time. I really like the simple gesture of her moving, but will experiment a bit more on making sure the colours are correct and trying to accomplish the design of the vines wrapping around her body. In this moving image, the colours are not the same throughout, making it a bit hard to follow along, this is something ill have to try and rectify in the future.
This image is one of my final outcomes for the album cover we were commissioned to do. I have added the simple movements of the eyes and some of the leaves moving up and down to create the sense that she is being freed from the plants, as the album is for plants to enjoy the feeling of the music. I found this movement so difficult as it was hard to keep track of the layers and add the details so it flows smoothly. This image/gif is one of many different outcomes I'm going to try, maybe adding in some more leaves/flowers to create more of a sense of 'release' in terms of the plants letting us humans go.
This was my final outcome for the album cover using procreate and photoshop to create the flow of the woman blinking and then animating her into some falling leaves. I have decided to create this flow because it best suited the animating I had created before adding the leaves moving. I really enjoyed this task as it taught me to animate using photoshop and procreate, adding a bit of life to my drawing, it really compliments my drawing as it adds character and creates a sense of being 'set free'. Im really proud of this drawing and animation as it makes me realise that I can develop my understanding of both animation and creating a set drawing that can be animated to create something totally different. Creating a different idea to the first thought, I had decided that it was the perfect fit for the brief, using both digital and traditional media to create the sense of movement within the drawing. I had really tried to make good use of the tasks given to us to create the blinking and the leaf animation, making sure to add the details and the movement.
This was the album cover we decided on to create our gifs and covers on. This album is all about plants being able to listen to music and enjoy the sounds it makes, thriving in the soil along with some happy music. The whole cover and gif was to create updated and individual artwork to add to the new version of the album. My whole idea was based around the old artwork, using an illustration of a woman and adding the vines to create the sense of the plants being 'free' in order to reach the light. The image above is the gif on a story on instagram with one of the songs from plantasia playing, which gives my artwork the sense of belonging.
