This project from my Type 1 class involved choosing a word or phrase from a passage, and using our knowledge about the anatomy of type to dissect each letters unique characteristics. Created in Affinity Designer I wanted to attempt to accentuate specific anatomical pieces and added a magnifying glass effect to the lowercase a, the upper case U, and the g. In addition to dissecting the typeface, I incorporated elements of the type itself, such as defining the typeface used, seen on the bottom right, and a description of the chosen phrase from the passage on the top left. I used the background phrase "anatomy of type" as a subtle call to the title of the project, and to make the piece more intriguing to the eye, lastly, I chose a gentle color palette to make reading each individual definition easier on the eye.
