Vehicle Graphics - 2D/3D Designs
Modagrafics / 24 Seven Discovere / Independents / Yellow Freight / Roadway / Miller Brewing / McLane / McDonalds / American Appliances and more...
The following graphics are a small sample of desgins and design concepts I was contracted to create.  Or created while employed by Modagrafics.  A full scale large format production house based out of Rolling Meadows, Il..  The designs here are conceptual and some were approved and became FULL PRODUCTION PIECES.  All files were created to scale and templates were utilized when available.  All graphics created were printed on vinyl based materials and applied by the client or production house.  Layout and design was created in Adobe CS and Lightwave 3D.  Some elements were provided by clients while others were strictly created from scratch.
The following design and layout was created while I was employed at Modagrafics - Rolling Meadows, Il..  This design was done from created artwork, supplied logos, snd some stock and custom photography.  The general design was inspired by the company website.  The dsiegn of the vehicle stayed true from concept to appliaction.  It was truly AWESOME to see this thing in person and driving down the street.  Created in Adobe CS.
This is one of my pride and joy.  This is one of seveal pieces that I conceptualized, created, developed, modeled and rendered in 3D for Fleet Design.  No one in the industry was really doing this at the time.  I developed a method of creating the graphic in 3D and rendering the piece Hi-Res. but in a smaller format.  Then being able to print the graphic in a large scale format.  Also not losing color depth.  Or clarity/quality of the graphic.  Though I only was able to create several of these pieces... to see these and the ones for Miller Brewing was AWESOME!
This was step two in the process I developed while at Modagrafics.  This was another design and... an experiment to see what I could do to push the design envelope.  See most designs you only see from one side.  In this case I wanted to show more than just the one agnle.  Also, it was a dobule whammy a TWOFER.  See the Mini Cooper was 3D too and it also was small enough to fit in the trailer for real.  So I had an employee mimic placing vinyl on an object and then composited him putting vinyl on the car and put him in the car too!
The images above are samples that became in some form real, pieces for MILLER BREWING.  Sandy Gallo who was the head of new technologies at Miller fell in love with the 3d idea when she first daw it.  These pieces were modified slightly and then became a real prototype.  My favorite thing was that she wanted me to teach her staff how to do this.  Ummm survey says... Ehhhhhhhhhh!  That's a no can do.  But... Again, it was nice to see this as a real piece and more designs are not posted here.  Things that make you go hmmm!?
Another piece that came to fruition.  This was another very cool concept.  Tried to have the shadows on the side mimc the sunlight.  Of course the effect only worked for a certian point in the day.  However, one really slick thing about this design was that it was printed on a reflective vinyl.  The rear door/panel, when light hit it at night, made it look like it was lit up.  Also please note that the designs were modified several times.  From a more real world lights and darks lighting to a more bright flat look.  Not that it didn't look impressive.  IT DID!
