In 2011 Cereplast, a manufacturer of sustainable plastics, launched a graphic design contest, called “Make Your Mark,” in search of a symbol that would make it easy for consumers to identify products that are made from bioplastics. This symbol would be stamped or embossed on bioplastic products in the same way you find the recycling symbol and the resin identification code numbers displayed now.
With over 1,500 submissions, LIMA Design’s entry was ultimately chosen by public vote as one of the semi-finalists. There were over 2.8 million votes cast.
