This was a 4 week module of Form and Nature, where we chose a creature, did rigorous study of the natural form and its function followed by imitation and abstraction.

The course started with analysing surrounding objects from a Form perspective, what features communicates what, and why...

then I chose my creature, which is Barramundi Perch and started studying it with sketching its profiles in detail

This was followed by imitating the form with basic materials

by the second week, the abstraction phase stated, the goal was to minimalizing the form to its ultimate essence.

By third week, I identified an essence of the form of the creature, and started working on it, irrespective of the creature.

at the end of the fourth week, we gathered all the created and curated abstractions to affinity diagrams and filtered out form-function links for product concepts

The Vacuum cleaner concept was selected because it not only imitates the creatures form but also the function of its features.

The concept is based on-

1. form of the barramundi fish

2. air flow inspired from the aquatic respiration through gills

3. power grip inspired from scales

I named the concept, Vakketki, from the word Vacuum and bhetki ( the Bengali word for Barramundi).
