"Sextet" is an instrument installation designed for the plaza in front of Xijindu Concert Hall. The concert hall is a place for professional musicians to perform. My idea is to build an stage for the public, where street singers, musicians, or even anyone who loves music could play on. 

Inspired by the traditional sextet, a form of chamber music cooperated by six musicians, we designed six different instruments on site. I hope that performance and improvisation can become a tool of communication between citizens.

I used an interactive model to test the lighting effect of the stepping piano. By linking the lighting bricks on the ground to the 88 keys of the piano one by one in order, a specific pitch will sound when people step on its corresponding lighting brick.
