Ruisrock – rock festival 2022 Visual Identity

 
Ruisrock
 
is a rock festival held annually on the island of Ruissalo in Turku, Finland. Ruisrock, founded in 1970, is the second-oldest rock festival in Europe (after Pinkpop and american festival Woodstock) and is the oldest in Finland. 
The first festival attracted 38 thousand spectators (a record - 95 thousand visitors in three days in 2015). The annual number of visitors is about 70 thousand people on average.
A special feature of the rock festival is "heavy karaoke" for those who want to perform hits with their favorite rock bands together.
 
 
The Ruisrock Festival is undoubtedly about music, entertainment and communication, but it is also about incredible beauty of nature, sea and forests, an amazing atmosphere.
When designing the logo, my goal was to avoid clichés. I completely moved away from the usual symbolism of guitars, picks, notes, skulls, microphones, typical for music festivals, and focused on the atmosphere, the location of the festival and the emotions. The result is a modern logo with 2 parts: text and graphic. The text part is executed in a simple and readable font. The graphic part – 4 symbols representing music, people and atmosphere, sea and forests. The basis of the logo is clarity, simplicity and minimalism.
The festival has a slogan that sounds like this: "Where freedom lives", because a music festival is a territory of freedom.
The color palette is selected in accordance with the theme: green - nature reserve and forests; red and orange - people, their emotions, sensations; blue - the sea; any of the selected colors is suitable for music, because at the festival music sounds with different moods and characters, which also have their own color matching. For ease of use, the logo can be black or white with a colored background.
The corporate identity as a whole, like the logo, is based on 3 rules: clarity, simplicity and minimalism. Therefore, there are no clichés in all elements of the corporate identity.
 

The logo consists of 2 parts: text and graphic. The text part is executed in a simple and readable font. The graphic part - 4 symbols representing music, people and atmosphere, sea and forests. The logo  has slogan too and can be used with and without it.​​​​​​​


Gray area indicates Safe Zone. Other graphical and visual elements can be safely positioned up to the adjoining dark gray area.
Dark gray indicates Clear Space. This area must be kept free of all other graphical and visual elements.
