Car racing is an exciting and adrenaline-filled sport, and the earlier you get into it the better your chances of reaching the top of competitive racing. Here are some tips to get you started if you dream of becoming a professional car racing driver.

Start with go-karting; many professional race car drivers start here and move up in the sport. This is a cheap and easy way to test your racing skills. It is also a good way to find out if you’re a speed junkie, which you must be to make it as a professional racing driver. If you find you have good racing skills, start registering for kart races at your local race track.

To improve your driving skills, take a racing class. Your local race track most likely offers beginners driving classes.

Move from racing karts to cars. To do this, you'll have to join the local chapter of Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). You’ll need a racing car, a physical exam from a doctor, and safety gear before you start racing at SCCA events. If you don’t have funds to buy a racing car, you can rent one; the local SCAA chapter should be able to help with that.
