I was asked to illustrate the stag’s natural curiosity and desire for exploration. For me it had to be dreamlike and slightly abstract combined with exploring the Napa Valley wildlife. You can find local plants and animals in there but also little eyes looking back at the stag. Like a conversation between the curiosity of the stag and the curiosity of the world. My work is often full of bright juicy colors but I felt like I needed to make this one a bit softer, dreamy and and friendly. I divided the world in four modest palettes, portraying the passing of time and seasons. But when these four colorways are combined it’s a bright expressive explosion.
