Vandalsoft Switch
Vandalsoft Lead Product Designer

Our team wanted to create the Vandalsoft Switch, a device that could be clipped on to a container or a basket to modify the container into a miniature insect breeder.

The Switch would control basic functions for insect breeding such as spraying water, and informing the user of harvesting cycles.
Above is the first prototype of the Vandalsoft Switch. It is the shell for the would-be product.
The hardware for Vandalsoft Switch needed to securely hold the main PCB (photo below) as well as the LED PCB. It also needed a facade to emit the light from the LED as well as have a clip on the back panel.
The main PCB also had a soft-reset and a complete reboot button that needed to be accessible from the outer shell.

Below is the second prototype of the Vandalsoft Switch that reflected the updated requirements.
Sketches from planning the dimensions of the second prototype.
3D-Prints of the second prototype to test the dimensions and viability of the current design.
The final version of the Vandalsoft Switch had some minor adjustments such as the addition of the antennae for the device to better connect with the router. The device needs internet connection because it must inform the user with information about the insects condition as well as send data to Vandalsoft's main server.
There were also some minor adjustments to screw size and dimensions.
Testing the light transmission of the LED cover. The light was guided to shine only in the circular area by controlling thickness of the plastic material.
