I was sitting in East Helena, Montana, outside a local tavern "Smiths Place", watching locals gathering to shoot off various fireworks in celebration of Independence Day.
The spectacle of excitement, patriotism, and local community made me reflect upon the progression of our nation, which spurs a quote by Abraham Lincoln that merits contemplation, "America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves".
