Mola - An Interpretation via a print collection

MOLA
An Interpretation via a Collection of Prints

What’s a Mola ?
Molas are a traditional textile craft, that are made from layers of colored fabric that are stitched and cut using applique techniques to create patterns and pictures. They originated in Panama, with the women of the Kuna tribe in the San Blas islands.
Thought Bubbles
The project involved studying this traditional art from Panama and recreating it with my own modern inputs, while incorporating it onto regular use products to make a collection.

These are some interpretations until finally reaching the ultimate designs.

Final Design Interpretation
The Collection
The designs were made keeping in mind modern everyday products.
Thus, the collection is not limited to a single type of product.

It ranges from pillow covers and sports bras to onesies and bag packs as well.
