ADIDAS Y-3 - NOTOMA SANDAL

"Yohji Yamamoto and adidas have a longstanding relationship, one which has pathed the way for avant-garde footwear to enter the mainstream market at an accessible level. Now, Y-3 continues this with its latest silhouette: the Notoma Sandal. Arriving in Black/Chalk White/Red and Clear Brown/Red/Black, the Notoma Sandal borrows the Torsion-equipped sole unit from its incredibly technical and heavy-duty Notoma boot, which was first released back in September 2020. However, this is where the similarities end. Instead, Y-3 opts for a throwback design similar to sandals that were produced in the early days of Y-3, presenting a chunky and curvaceous silhouette on top of the already hefty midsole component. The upper is made from mesh, suede, and foam, making up the toe box, open sidewall, and heel section respectively. More interesting details can be found all around the Notoma Sandal, for example how the laces work. Laces run over the padded mesh tongue section, while a strap locks them down and holds them in place by connecting to the base of the midsole. There’s also an open heel section that’s harnessed with a Y-3-embossed heel pad, more Y-3 branding on the tongue, and lastly, a thick insole that’s also decorated with Y-3 branding." HYPEBEAST

In order to be the most authentic to adidas, we started by diving into the archives of the brand. There we found some very interesting references which we developed and modernized for today’s needs and aesthetic.
