UI Experimental Website Design : Yohji Yamamoto

The Journey Of Black is an experimental hypothetical website created on the Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto , detailing his life, his works and his philosophy through a career in unconventional fashion spanning almost 40 years. The project aims to provide an insight into the man and the mind behind one of Japan's most revered avant garde designers with the use of UI design and Yamamoto's signature monochromatic palette, paired with a clean elegant layout and fonts.

Yohji Yamamoto is a Japanese fashion designer based in Tokyo and Paris. Considered a master tailor, he is known for his
avant-garde tailoring featuring Japanese design aesthetics. A known pioneer of the 1980’s Japanese New Wave, he has been overturning Western conventions on both an aesthetic and technical level throughout the decades, with signature oversized silhouettes in black often feature drapery in varying textures.
