Before printing the final deliverables, photoshop mockups were made to simulate the print job and to give the client a realistic portrayal and idea of what the final print would look like.
We really pushed to try and achieve the chalkboard look on the cover. Unbeknownst to our team, the reception location had a large chalkboard wall as you walked in. Some would call this luck, we call it ESP.
We did not know that the bridesmaids would all have their hair done "up"  and be dressed retro. We also didn't know that the other bridesmaids would be wearing suits. But this was definitely an educated guess based on our prior work history and interactions with our client.
The wedding program was actually designed last. We designed the reception program first, since the reception was the most food oriented of the evening. From there we took as many fundamental design elements and incorporated them into the wedding program to ensure it matched the reception program. But without making it looks like the bridesmaids were menu items (that would just have been awkward).
The Final Deliverables
The final deliverables held true to the mock-up designs. Our printer worked hard to ensure that colours held true. Apache has been one of the best printers our team has worked with in Calgary.
As it turns out the MC had used the wedding program as reference for the reception in the evening.
You can really see the C1S coating in this shot. The coating really helps keep the edges clean on trims.
The back of the reception had changed slightly from the mock-up. It was simpified and kept clean.
