The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on all was an issue that shook millions across the world. While most industries had to forcefully shut down for a period of 9 months, a lot of other industries were finding ways to catch up with the ‘new normal’. One such sector affected massively is the education sector, which was forced to bring to a halt school and college campus sessions for almost one academic year.
A dip many schools saw was the increase in students attending online classes showing symptoms of anxiety, stress, PTSD and depression. While a few schools took to counselling sessions over call, a lot of the underprivileged students didn’t have this benefit. This resulted in poor academics as well as not being interested in activities taking place.
What I would like to approach as a problem will be to have a micro-library/ a learning pod which allows students to follow the rules and policies of COVID, as well as benefit from a fresh environment, and accessibility to research materials, a counsellor for their mental well-being and even a personal space to allow growth and the gaining of knowledge. This would be a step forward in making sure the child has a full development process physically, emotionally and mentally, which was neglected in a lot of households in the years 2019-2021
