OzAsia Festival - Visual Campaign

This was a student project where we were asked create a poster for one of three selected real events - I chose OzAsia Festival, a festival held in Adelaide, South Australia which showcases the best in theatre, dance, music, visual arts, literature, film, food and cultural events from all over Asia. This event is held in Spring and goes for 3 weeks.

As 2021 is the Year of the Ox, I decided this would be the theme for my poster.
I wanted to symbolise the blending of cultures by decorating the oxen with patterns and colours traditionally found in Asian culture.
For example, the red and gold colours are common in Chinese and Japanese culture and symbolise joy and good fortune, the head dress and muzzle are inspired by the decorations that oxen are decorated with during Indian festivals, and I also took inspiration for the style from traditional Indonesian masks.

I wanted my poster to be bright, festive and fun.

Promotional Item
For the 2D element, I chose to design an Uchiwa, a hand held fan. As the event is held in Spring, I thought a fan would go nicely with the event.

Promotional Vehicle
For the 3D element, I chose a car wrap, so they can advertise the event as they drive around the city.
I took the streamers from the poster and decorated the sides and top of the car so it looked like they were floating over the car from the ox on the hood. Making it festive and fun.
