Gig Poster Illustation for Indie Band

Gig Poster Illustration for Indie Band

Concept and Objectives
The idea for this project was to produce a gig poster for a band advertising an upcoming event. I knew immediately that I wanted to create a poster for an indie-rock style band. I did choose to create my poster for a band that doesn't exist so I could really have complete artistic freedom. Some of the guidelines for this project were:
- No gradients or blended edges
- No strokes unless they add to the overall design
- Clearly communicate the concept in a creative way

Sketches
I drew 25 different concepts for my potential poster. I wanted to include mountains, a camp-site vibe, and pine trees.
Initial Concept & Feedback
My initial concept had a lot of brighter and lighter colors that made the poster have a more daytime mood. After I had that initial concept I decided to go darker to match a gig vibe.

Some of the feedback I received included:
- Making the campfire smoke smoother and rounder
- Reduce the noise in the trees as it was too "busy"
- Remove the high-detailed stars as they were distracting.
Final Gig Poster
Below is the final poster I designed and created. The poster sits at 11x17 inches.
