Dissection, 2020
dissection /dɪˈsɛkʃn/ noun:
1: the action of cutting something openespecially a dead body or plant, in order to study its structure.
2: the process of examining or considering something in detail, or a piece of work that is the result of doing this.

The human body is a mesmerizing space and entity. The intricate relationship that Gaga Movement Language, suggests with it, offers an unprecedented experience with its novel instructions and suggestions. It offers a deep connection with the body, turning inwards with the state of introversion and flow.

The human face, is the proud frontrunner symbol of both an anthropomorphist and an anthropocentric creature. In an attempt to reject these two very toxic world-views, the distortion of the face is proposed. In contrast, the human face is also the main identifier of an individual. Without its distinct characteristics, we are no one and anyone.

There is an irrefutable underlying dissonance within the juxtaposition of these two. The intricate connection with one’s body and therefore mind suggested by Gaga, and the disidentification that accompanies the distortion of the face. Dissection, is just in the middle of this conflict, it is both dissonant and harmonious. This is the story of my self-dissection, which is about turning inwards and stepping away from your ‘humanity’ and identity. If the one who is going to conduct this experimental dissection is not me, then who is?
