SAPIENS BOOK COVER (ANALOG DESIGNING)
This is a class project to redesign a book cover using analog design techniques. The design should be completely made by hand the usage of any digital techniques are not allowed in this project
The first step I have gone through in this project is creating a Mind map so that I can get a rough idea about how to make the design practically possible and visually appealing.
Mind Map
After creating the Mind map I started working on ideas and thought of using a minimal design technique. I thought of using a carving technique in the design so that I can fill the carved portion with another material.
First step in that was to cut out the letters for that I have made my handwritten typeface on a butter paper and later I have traced it out on to the cardboard sheet. Then I have added the main element in the design that is the hand symbol using turmeric powder diluted water. After that I started cutting out the text portions from the cardboard using a blade. (As It was lockdown the things available was limited so the cuts did not came out so sharp and perfect)
After the cutting out process I thought of ways of how to arrange the design to make it visually better. I have given a fabric texture below the cut out parts and added the sea shell to the design. Then I sprinkled kumkum powder over it to represent blood.
I finally ended up in this final output
Mockups For the design
With this project I have gained knowledge about how to manually make a design without using any digital elements. This will be a huge benefit for me in my future as I will no longer be stuck in a design even thought I am not provided with a computer or any other digital supports.
Thanks for spending your valuable time for viewing my works.
