Pirates Comps (Personal Project)

This project is a personal project I took on as a challenge (all logos are the property of their respective owners). The goal was to create branding pieces for the Pittsburgh Pirates that could each appeal to different demographics. Each video uses shape language, audio, and motion styles familiar to the intended audience.
The piece above is a logo reveal aimed at the "gamer" audience. It uses the current Pirates primary logo and colors but combines it with technical elements similar to what one would see in a modern sci-fi video game. This piece would not look out of place in games like Cyberpunk 2077 or Destiny 2.

This next piece is a 10-second ad spot for an upcoming game and targets Gen-Z. The concept of this piece revolves around capturing those split-second moments that make baseball so exciting. In this case, a homerun is used as the anchor for the footage, and supplementary graphics and motion convey a sense of movement, energy, and excitement. The transitions happen frequently as this helps to increase attention span and viewer engagement. The speed of the transitions matches the speed of those split-second moments. The same shot is shown from two perspectives at once to add additional interest. The actual audio from the play is used to help the concept "stick" in the viewer's mind.
The above package is an example of an in-game promotional piece aimed at targeting the "Sports Center" crowd (the generation that grew up with ESPN as the "only game in town"). This piece can generate excitement, build brand awareness, and show the fans as "part of the team." It would serve equally well as a lead-in to a larger story or as a hype-piece showcasing highlights from recent games. The package is modular in construction. The footage and copy can be quickly and easily swapped out and provide a familiar and relatable format for the intended demographic.
This is a logo bumper directed towards the 40+ crowd. It represents a nostalgia play. With nothing but the crack of a wooden bat (the WOODEN bat being very important to this demographic) against a new, clean ball, the blue sky, and the roar of the crowd, it invites the viewer to recall their own baseball memories. It is clean, to the point, and invokes a classic look and feel without losing its contemporary touch.
