Evolution of Sound

Procedurally generated musical sentences (melodies) are represented visually similar to unicellular organisms. They move around the screen looking for food, if they eat: they reproduce via mitosis, if their energy runs out before they can find food: they die leaving behind food, bigger ones chase and eat small ones, small ones run from big ones. When they reproduce, they mutate so their sound and musical sentence change.

The musical sentences are transformed and iterated like how a musician would iterate a musical sentence. Together they harmonize and create a dynamic, evolving music. We hear the music of this digital ecosystem, music based on natural selection.
