LOOK BACK IN ANGER is a revival of the classic play. The iron has stood as a symbol of this play for quite some time. Director Sam Gold wanted the visual that would be agressive and have a sort of punk rock attitude. I decided to take the idea of the iron and twist it into something more contiversal than had previously been done by making it look as if the iron had burned directly into the image of the lead actress.

Even though I am quite happy with the final visual, both the director and I both preferred the image of the cigarette being burned into the word "ANGER." Here is a better look at that design:
