Curious People for University of Cambridge

Curious People
Curious People is a video campaign I worked on for the Public Engagement team at the University of Cambridge. The purpose of the campaign is to connect researchers with the general public, presenting the people behind the amazing research, and showing how research is relevant to everyone, everywhere!

We invited people of all ages to submit their questions, big or small, on any subject they could think of, then we found researchers from across the University of Cambridge who could best answer them.

I worked with the Communications Design Team at the University of Cambridge to create friendly branding for the project that was consistent with the University's guidelines.

Due to pandemic restrictions, everyone was working from home and we could not film the researchers answering the questions in their labs or offices, so I created a document (see below) to instruct the researchers on how to video their answers to the questions using whatever devices they had to hand at home.

We stayed in touch with the researchers as they created their videos, to answer any questions and give feedback to help them create the best video possible. Once they were ready, they sent their videos to me and I edited them and uploaded a series of 5 episodes to YouTube, Facebook and Instagram’s IGTV.

I aimed to make the videos as accessible as possible, adding voiceovers for the questions and closed captions. I used OpenDyslexic font in the video text to make it easier for people with Dyslexia to read.

I devised, managed and implemented the marketing strategy on social media to promote the project through the Public Engagement Team's YouTube and Cambridge festival channels: some of the videos were also shared on the main University social media channels.

Credit also due to my Public Engagement Team colleague Naomi Clements-Brod who worked with me to manage the project.
