Wandering along Oxley Beach at Port Macquarie, Australia I came across a corner of the beach dominated by black rocks and pressed in hard against the coastal cliffs.  In among the crevices and shallow tidal pools I discovered the remains of many small to medium sized shells known variously as tritons and trumpets.  Strangely there were few other shell species in the area, and conversely, I saw almost no other remains of these particular shells elsewhere along the beach.

It felt as if this was a small graveyard where the empty triton shells had been brought together by the tides in honour of their former occupants...

PS  None of the sites were touched or manipulated by me.  The arrangement of shells, pebbles and other elements are exactly as I found them.
