“she/her” is an Audio-visual that follows the trajectory of a woman’s life in contemporary Indian society, and attempts to portray the duality of the many moments of resilience, reluctance as well as despair brought about by the imminent fate of the gender. Often women are isolated in their breaking out, but if anything connects and builds the bond of sisterhood, it is the pain that women across all barriers share. It is this bond that lends respite in many moments, and it is also this bond that is more often than not left unappreciated by society. This Audio-Visual thus combines the portrayal of women’s individual experiences (ranging from the biological to social to mental) with the power they derive from their shared sufferings, which we have used in she-her to reclaim the voice that is stifled. This Audio-Visual is an exploration and a celebration of the experience of womanhood and the small acts of reclaiming slivers of pleasure from the patriarchal structure of our society that disallows any.
