ABACULATOR - Making Mathematics easy via Abacus
Abaculator -- Helping young children solve easy and complex math problems
The Idea:
The idea behind this application was to help students learn Abacus to solve complex mathematical problems.
Why?
We as human being are too dependent on Calculators. Abacus helps us in solving maths problem without even carrying a Abacus.
How?
If you know how to use a Abacus, you can visualize the abacus on your mind and solve any mathematical problem.
The Problem:
The current solution of using pen and paper to help young students solving these arithmetic problems are inefficient and as they progress, they move towards using calculators to help them solve such basic problems. Because of constant use of calculators, they become dependent on it.
Proposed Solution:
We will be teaching them techniques to perform these menial problems, at first with an abacus and as they progress further, they will be able to solve these problems mentally.
Constraints:
We noticed was that as these students are young, they are easily distracted and they needs things to be interesting to stay focused. As abacus learning can be quiet laborious so we need to design the application in such a way that will keep the students interested and also they are able to learn as they using the application.
Solutions:
1] We decided to add personalized profile so the child using the application can always improve his/her score.
2] We added an achievement section, so they can show off their Unlocked Achievements
3] Added online mode, whoever solves the questions first wins. He/she can play with their class fellows
