CONTEXT
I have listened to my father (class of ’93 and a rock addict) speak endlessly about the musical moments that defined his young adult years. He tells stories about the unique cultures that surrounded each 90’s genre, his extensive CD collection, the magic of standing in line to see an artist on stage for the first time, and the excitement of waiting for a highly anticipated music video to finally premier on MTV. He made me my first mixtape as a newborn and took me to my first rock concert when I was 13. We have always bonded over our shared love for music, and for that I am so grateful! However, not all members of my generation have the luxury of a parent that exposed them to a myriad of different artists, genres, etc. from a young age.

PROBLEM
The issue here is simple: much of the music of the older generations is lost to Generation X. Furthermore, with a lack of music sharing between generations, the same goes for the music of new and upcoming artists as well. As genres begin to fade out, the rich culture and memories that they hold falls away, too.

SOLUTION
CURATE will serve as a single multi-media platform to collect and document your personal music legacy and share it with friends, family, and music lovers of all generations. Via three major functions in the app (discover, create, and share), CURATE is the perfect spot to compile the moments that define your unique music taste and make it easily accessible for others to view. It gives your dad a chance to show you why 1991 was the best year for rock music, and it gives you the opportunity to tell him why you think 2003 was even better. Your library will offer your loved ones a glimpse into the music that makes you, you.
