Black Identity



In a country where entertainment becomes very expensive very quickly, black gives South Africans affordable access to a greater entertainment choice. It’s one of the biggest libraries of the latest movies, series, international sport, kids entertainment and music videos that you can watch on all your devices from as little as R5.

We were challenged to develop a disruptive and aspirational brand that would stand out amongst our competitors.

We created an identity as diverse as the brand’s content. Inspired by one of the universal metaphors for entertainment, we used the concept of spotlights to create a dynamic, interchangeable identity. These spotlights, in various patterns and hues, showcase the diverse range of content offered by black, from movies, to series, to sport, to gaming and beyond. black is not a product, it’s a lifestyle. With something for all ages and budgets, black is the future of entertainment now.
