First I created initial sketches of the object, trying to capture as many angles as possible. This helps me become familiar with the object and also helps me find the best angle to illustrate it from. 

After many sketches, I decided on an angle and created a line drawing with adobe illustrator. I used the line drawing as a foundation during the colorization.
