I was honored to be commissioned to create portraits for the permanent collection of Texas A&M University-San Antonio, depicting prominent individuals who have made significant contributions to the social, civic, and educational landscape of San Antonio.

The subjects of these portraits include Sandra Cisneros, a celebrated Mexican-American author; David Robinson, a former NBA player turned education advocate; Raul Jimenez, a restaurateur, and philanthropist; Linda Pace, a revered art patroness; and Reverend Claude Black, a distinguished civil rights activist.

Each painting measures 4'X5' and is rendered using a waterborne, low-odor, high-gloss acrylic Bulletin Enamel—a medium chosen for its versatility, environmental friendliness, and ease of application. This lead-free, fast-drying enamel ensures vibrant colors and durable coverage, perfectly capturing the essence of each subject's persona and impact on the San Antonio community.

In addition to portraying the individuals themselves, the portraits feature gold elements in the background, comprised of geometrical silhouette shapes. When aligned, these shapes form the iconic Central Academic or Madla buildings of the main Texas A&M University-San Antonio campus—a subtle yet meaningful nod to the institution's role in shaping the educational landscape of the region.

Through these portraits, we aim to celebrate the diverse contributions of these remarkable individuals while honoring their legacies and inspiring future generations to continue their work of positive change and advocacy within the San Antonio community.
