Lynkatober 2020
In October 2020, I decided to once again take part in “Inktober”, or rather, a form of Artober for the month. My goal was to make one drawing a day using ink(s) on paper, to practice drawing in general and traditional art bit more, using prompts. However, rather than using the official Inktober prompts list, I decided to make my own, making my own “Artober” as many other artists had done. It also allowed me to make another list of prompts available for anyone who might have wanted additional prompts to pick from! I added on my prompts list that there were no rules, no pressure, no specified medium or way to do them – they’re only there for inspiration, after all. I do believe in people actually enjoying themselves and challenging themselves the way they want, not making it something super stressful.

Goals of the project: practice drawing using traditional tools (paper + inks); draw more; draw based on prompts. The artworks created were not intended to be of the highest quality, but simply to make myself draw more. The point of the challenge was still to be fun, and to finish things, not make them perfect :).

Here is the prompts list:

I did have two hashtags at the time (4, since each of them had a "2020" version): #Lynkatober, #Lynkatober2020, #Lynkartober and #Lynkartober2020. There was only one R of difference, yet I couldn’t choose just one set then. I did end up liking “Lynkatober” the most while doing the challenge, so, if I do more lists for future Octobers, it will be the set I use!

Doing this was definitely challenging but fun, and good practice! As usual, I have used my personal stories project Legends of Erayfen as a primary subject (particularly Chronicles of the Wind Rider), but also a little bit of fanart. I made them all in portrait format for once, too. I mainly used fine liners, Faber-Castell pen brushes, as well as Indian ink and some Posca markers.

Just like the Inktobers 2017 and 2019, I posted each drawing on my TwitterFacebookInstagram, and DeviantART pages throughout the month if you would like to see each caption (and commentary) for each of them! In any case, below is a grid with the 31 drawings done for the challenge (click on them to open the image, click their captions to open their respective DeviantART pages in a new tab):
These were all drawn inside an A4 sketchbook, and can be seen as photographs with the materials used on their respective Instagram posts.

Materials used:
- Pens & Fine-liners (0.1 to 0.8 and brush tips, mostly Faber-Castell, some Staedtler and Graphik fineliners as well)
- Indian ink, silver calligraphy ink, water, paint brushes (and paper towels :))
- White, silver and black POSCA pens

This project is also available on my WordPress blog.

Again, as is always the case for my 2D artworks, these are all available on my various social media pages (FacebookInstagramTwitterDeviantART – all listed on Linktree), with a bit more description :).

Thanks for passing by, folks!
