Shaping the Future

The Shaping the Future creative brief focused on utilizing hand-drawn/hand-made lettering, that shares our vision of the future. The creative brief allowed the poster to either be a warning, a call-to-action, a rally call, a protest piece, or quote.
I designed a thin, boho style font with small elements of nature on the letters.  One of my favorite details of the piece is how I changed the R in "NATURE" to Rx.  It emphasizes how natural medicine is still medicine, an old medicine too and not just how we define medicine with Big Pharma.
I started with a black design type only, then I played around with colors and thought an inverted version looked cool too.  I definitely see this type design being on a T-shirt, tapestry or like a journal cover design you'd buy off Etsy.
The reason I chose to work with something of this topic is because this is something that hits home.  Natural medicine has been embedded in Hispanic culture since ancient times.
This topic is something I am very passionate about and I've written several research papers that denote this topic in full detail...but for creative purposes, I've decided to keep it short with "Nature is ~the~ best Medicine".  The point of the campaign is to bring awareness and raise questions.  This gets the conversation going which is the point of the strong message. :)
Original in black type on white artboard.
Inverted colors
Alas, the colorized version. Again, hints of color here and there since I wanted a legible and simple typeface.
T-shirt mockup
Also cute on a sweater....I mean, I'd wear it! :)
