Solomon Morris Davis's profile

Teenshop - The Savior Our Young Girls Need

Reverend Solomon Morris Davis is an ordained minister with Universal Life Church ministries located in Los Angeles, California. While he has many hobbies and interests, Solomon Morris Davis has contributed to many charitable organizations and foundations, including Teenshop, Inc.

Teenshop is an organization that ensures girls of color achieve their goals and become leaders in both their communities and careers. Emmy Award-Winning journalist Elleanor Jean Hendley founded the organization in 1985 to improve the lives of teenage girls of color. While it was founded in Philadelphia, the organization now has multiple chapters, including one in Los Angeles.

Teenshop recognizes that extra-curricular activities help build self-esteem in young students. A most notable feature, no girl in Teenshop drops out of school or becomes a teen parent, and all graduate high school and move on to college. Teenshop provides workshops devoted to teaching life skills, college preparation, and community service opportunities. Around one hundred and twenty-five girls enroll in Teenshop annually, and some even return to the organization later in life to fill leadership positions.
