PROJECT: ADAPTIVE REUSE OF HISTORIC BUILDING INTO ART MUSEUM | THESIS PROJECT
PROJECT YEAR: 2019

This project aims in understanding and exploring the integration of Art and Architecture through the use of historic buildings as an Art Museum. It also reflects on the most appropriate ways of ensuring the viability of the building and creating an entirely different spatial experience in viewing and displaying the art. In addition, it explores the possibility of mingling regional culture and art within the space.

One of the gallery space which was a godown earlier. The light pointed towards the truss work exhibits the unique design element of the building. Also, the light that bounce back acts as the ambient lighting required for the gallery. The windows on the left wall lets the visitors have a visual to the existing pepper processing unit - by that the pepper processing becomes a live installation where visitors can see, plus, the unit which has been functioning at the same space for years, becomes part of the new museum project.
