Brief:
Make a 30 second experimental animation shot that starts and ends with a dot and it should represents your emotions during the first lockdown.
Concept:
The main concept behind the animation was focused on this one outburst i had during the first lockdown. The dot is supposed to represent me. In the first few scenes, the dot is happy to be home, hence the colourful background. But soon the colours start coming closer and the dot feels more uncomfortable because of the lack of personal space. Soon the dot becomes more uneasy and then there is an outburst. By the end of the animation the dot turns into a new dot since we all have changed and become a different version of ourselves during the lockdown.
Process:
The main method used was stop motion. The dot, eyes and person were animated with clay and shot on stopmotion studio. The background was removed on After Effects using Roto brush. I painted the heart and clicked pictures of it to transform it into a printout of heart. Then tore the printout into little pieces and made paper mache out of it to transform it into a new dot.
I painted out different colourful backgrounds and looped them digitally on After Effects. Took pictures of different textures, and added them in the background too.
