El 23 no es tan sólo un número. Es la forma que hemos encontrado para dar cabida a todas aquellas ideas e inquietudes que nos rondan sin descanso. Dicen que la sangre tarda 23 segundos en circular por el cuerpo humano; tal vez la línea de bus que te lleve a casa sea la número 23; o puede que te toque ese mismo número en la cola de la frutería…Podríamos encontrarle diferentes significados, pensar en coincidencias y conjeturas, basarnos en las matemáticas y formular teoremas, pero esta vez, preferimos darle un homenaje a la subjetividad. Y es que en el fondo no se trata de buscar soluciones, ni de resolver fórmulas matemáticas, sino de lanzar incógnitas…y esperar, a ver qué pasa.
Alberto Polo Iañez, Ana Cabello, Eduard Bagur y Eva Morell son los responsables de este proyecto de comisariado editorial que nace del esfuerzo y la ilusión, para crear una propuesta de calidad, con una estética cuidada y un amor especial por el detalle. Con esta publicación, semestral y monográfica, nuestra intención es reunir el trabajo de veintitrés artistas en cada número, para dar difusión a su obra y exponer, de este modo, su particular visión sobre un tema en concreto. Asimismo, no sólo sea veintitrés una revista más de artistas, sino que vaya más allá, con colaboraciones a nivel on-line y exposiciones.

Number 23 is not just a mere number. It is the shape we have found in order to embrace and gather all those ideas and curiosity that show up in our minds. It is told that blood takes 23 seconds to run throughout human body; perhaps bus 23 will bring you home; or perhaps you get number 23rd at the supermarket’s queue… we could think of several meanings, like coincidences and conjectures or focus on a mathematical basis and formulate theorems. However, this time we would rather pay tribute to subjectivity. At the end of the day, it is not about looking for solutions or solving mathematical formulae, but focusing on the unknown and wait to see what happens next.
The authors of this editorial commission are Alberto Polo Iañez (www.albertopoloianez.com) and Ana Cabello; while Eduard Bagur (www.soychubasco.com) and Eva Morell (www.evamorell.es) are in charge of the editorial project, which was born out of the effort and eagerness, in order to create a quality proposal, where detail and aesthetics are fully taken care of. The aim of this biannual publication is gathering the work of 23 artists in each issue to spread their work and showcase their particular vision on this theme. Therefore, Veintitres is not just another art magazine, but goes beyond collaborating online and holding exhibitions.
