Kimbell Art Museum | Louis Kahn

"The museum has as many moods as there are moments in time, and never will there be a single day like the other."

– Louis Kahn

The Kimbell Art Museum, designed by Louis I. Kahn is considered to be the Mecca of Modern Architecture. Kahn designed this building quoting "Light is the theme." The cycloid barrel vaults have narrow slits on top with plexiglass which helps natural light to enter the space. This light then gets diffused by wing-shaped pierced aluminum reflectors that hang underneath the slit. It gives the smooth concrete vault a silvery gleam and a perfect yet subtle illumination to celebrate the artworks.
