Toy Show Speculative Branding

Client: Andy's Toys & St. Louis Vintage Toy Show
Industry: Retail

I partnered with Andy's Toys in St. Louis to create a speculative campaign for the St. Louis Vintage Toy Show's 20th Anniversary. The St. Louis Vintage Toy show occurs annually and draws in dealers from 17 states to sell, buy, and appraise toys as well as advertising items from the 1930s to 1990s.

The challenge the client faced was attracting a younger audience to these toy shows while still supporting and drawing in their older buyers.

I came up with the idea to create a series of collateral that would use revamped illustrations of toys from earlier generations that would be recognizable to older audiences while at the same time appealing to younger buyers with a fresh, modern design.
The end result was a two-toned palette of reds and blues combined with geometric graphics of toys such as Darth Vader, Snoopy, and Barbie Dolls in a bright new aesthetic.

Each would get a branded swag bag that included a pamphlet on the event’s history, a paper toy-robot they could assemble themselves, a t-shirt describing the definition of a toy enthusiast, and other miscellaneous items that every child at heart needs that I designed.
