Moonrise Kingdom Study (Acrylic Paint & Procreate / Digital & Traditional Art)
When I have free time, I enjoy doing studies on my favorite movie stills. This particular study is from the movie Moonrise Kingdom. Using acrylic on watercolor paper, I did a quick wash of blue over the paper. After the wash had dried, I started to loosely paint the outline and structure of the boy’s body and features. I then started painting the shadows and highlights, leaving the blue wash slightly visible to add dimension. In Photoshop, I took a photo of it and edited the colors to increase saturation. I created the frame in Procreate by laying colors on canvas and used the liquify tool.
