HISTORY OF DESIGN- ARTS AND CRAFTS MOVEMENT

The Arts and Crafts Movement was an international movement in decorative and fine arts that began in Britain and flourished in Europe and North America.

The main artists during the period were William Morris, Gustav Stickley, Edward 
Brune-Jones and Phillip Webb. It stood for traditional craftsmanship using simple forms, and often used medieval, romantic or folk styles of decorations.

The trellis and roses were originally painted by Morris and the birds by Phillip Webb.
