The Black Swan / Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 / March 2021
I've been asked to create a digital photo shoot of a Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4.
The idea was to propose some alternatives in terms of composition, colours and mood. To highlight the car DNA, we decided to keep two colours for both car and studio setup. Semi mat cold gray and metallic orange were use to enhance the car proportions, sleek surfaces and sharp details.
After a few days of 3D modelling (both exterior and interior) in Cinema 4D S22 - it was the time to carefully define the materials with the scene composition. We kept a maximum of 3 main lights + 3 detailed lights to tweak and sculpt the body. We rather think here in terms of light, reflection and shadows. We decided to do as much as possible with the 3D software such as integrating a real camera data with depth of field.
During the project, our client agreed with the "one colour tone" for the global process. It was a very nice experience for him seeing the first CGi results especially the importance of working on the lighting and shadowing process to sculpt in details the car mood we wanted.
We mostly used 36mm lens cameras with f/stop 9.0, shutter speed 1/15s and 100 iso.
In Cinema4D S22 we went for the built in ProRender render engine as a choice for specific Mac users with AMD graphic cards. As a physically correct and unbiased incorporated render engine, it was possible to keep the budget as low as possible but mostly to work really fast and get the best result possible with physical cameras and PBR materials.

The final raw images were really close to the ones you see here. We slightly used Lightroom for colour adjustments and Photoshop for the very last pixels details here and there.
