My vision on the Herman Miller sayl chair competition by @renderweekly @hermanmillerltd @hermanmiller #rwsaylchair #rwhermanmiller ─

I wanted to be curious on how this chair would present itself in different environments, not necessarily behind a desk with a wide monitor and RGB everything. I am a gamer but I also am a creator, I love design and clean aesthetics. I took a minimal approach and showcase the great design on this chair by the design team at Herman Miller, as the sayl chair is inspired by Architecture, and the idea of less is more focusing on inventive ways to use less material and provide a more balanced practical product with good support and freedom for the user.

I’ve put it in the 3 different environments.

The first was a modern reconstruction inspired by Herman Miller’s upholstered wire chair by Charles Eames ad from 1982. I tried to resemble the Sayl chair, showcasing how the lighting setup emphasises the beauty of the frameless back, using shadows to create the symbolic mesh and ‘Y’ backbone. I also incorporated the scattered primitive, yet soft shapes, adding an abstract element into the design. The choice of materials I used were a combination of off-white and white recyclable speckled plastic, again this fits the idea of sustainability, with contrasting yellow to offer a balance between the grey felt cushion.

The second render was made to capture the chair in a utopian dream and postmodernism. Aiming for unconventional and slightly weird, I created a circular accent wall with a contrasting grid, dreamy blue skies and red/pink walls.

The third render is more minimal, inspired by modern architecture. Using elegant brown leather cushion and arm rests coupled with off-white plastics, the setting is a pleasing yet simple combination. The chair would be fitting in a room for gamers, creators or architects that would appreciate the engineering of this piece.
